A couple, Holly and Brandon Dunn, had their car broken into, and among the stolen items were the ashes and memorial keepsakes of their late Chihuahua, Tia. The thief eventually dumped the items in a bag near a dumpster.
A homeless man named Chris, who had reportedly been living on the streets for about seven years, found the bag. Even though he had very little himself, he realized the items were important to someone and held onto them until he saw flyers the family had posted. He contacted them and returned everything without asking for money.
The story touched a lot of people online, and a GoFundMe was started to help Chris get back on his feet. The fundraiser was aiming for around $7,000 to help him move into an apartment, buy furniture, and care for his own rescued dog, Reo. Reports said it quickly raised several thousand dollars.
This incredible story spread because people were moved by the fact that someone struggling with homelessness still chose kindness and integrity over personal gain. If nobody was watching…
If you had every excuse…
If life had been unfair to you…
What would you choose?
